Emu Oil -- This Fibromite's Best Friend

Even if you don't have Fibromyalgia, (and I hope you don't!) this can help if you have any of these symptoms, or even if you just need a great moisturizer.

* Ok, it happens to most, if not all of us. We get those weird little phantom itchies. There's no bump or bite, no rash or mark. Just some inexplicable itch that is about to drive you insane.

* You had that one day where you felt half-way decent, so naturally, you tried to get everything done that you possibly could. (Make hay while the sun shines, right?) Now you've taken your meds, tried heat and/or ice, the hot shower massage or bath, and all of your other tricks and treatments you've learned over the years, yet you still have that muscle ache just screaming at you, "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PACE YOURSELF, REMEMBER?"

* You're lying in bed, desperately trying to get to sleep. (You know, that "restorative sleep" our doctors tell us is the #1 priority for everyone with FM, but never really tell us how to achieve it?) Suddenly, your feet hurt so bad, you're actually trying to hang them off the side of the bed, because even touching your warm and cozy flannel sheets puts you in agony.

* "Doctor, my clothes hurt!" Well, ok, I guess the clothes aren't actually in pain, so let me rephrase: Every part of my body that my clothes are touching feels like it's on fire. Now, there's a burning kind of pain we never even thought possible!

* You finally got some sleep (it might not have been "restorative," but, hey, it's better than nothing, and we take what we can get, right?) and you wake up only to find your hands so locked up, you can't even spread your fingers. Oh boy, it's going to be one of those days.

For these and many other issues such as cuts and scrapes, hives and rashes, minor dermatitis, etc., I've found nothing that helps me like emu oil.

Let me be very clear about this, contact your health care professional for any and all symptoms you may have. These products are essentially cosmetics, and claim no health benefits. I cannot promise that you will have the same results that I have had. But, what I can tell you is that it has provided me, and others I know, temporary relief from the issues listed, and more.

Where you buy it matters!

Be sure the oil is 100% pure and fresh, AEA certified, with no hormones, or antibiotics used.
It should be clear, not cloudy, and totally odorless.
My favorite:

Lotions, soaps, moisturizers and other products made with emu oil, should have the oil somewhere near the top of the list of added ingredients. Also, many are available without dyes, perfumes, preservatives, or other additives for those of us with skin allergies.
My favorite:

A little tip: I add extra oil to my hand and body lotion, which you can do with any brand or type of your favorite lotion.

I'd love to hear from you if you try it!

Junior Nation vs. Busch-league

Anyone who doesn’t think Kyle Busch is a talented driver, is blinded by their intense dislike for him. He possesses all of the talent, ability, and car control in the world.
He is good enough and fast enough, to win a lot of races and maybe championships. Which is precisely why he doesn’t need to drive like a Bodine. (What is it with these B-brothers, anyway?)

Please. Was there anyone who didn't know he was going to hit Junior at Richmond, Saturday night? Just as he has hit everyone who has gotten in his way in the CTS and Nationwide Series’. If it weren’t such a pattern, one might chalk it up to a racin’ deal. But, get real folks, this is what he does, and he does it all the time.

Because they said so!

NASCAR decided to let the "boys be boys,” this year. Busch is their poster child. The edict came down from above. You can tell by all of the, ahem, excitement the guys in the booth try to manufacture around him. You can tell by the excuses they make for him again, and again. They all walk in lockstep, being the good little NASCAR soldiers they are. I wonder if they even have a clue as to just how gagging it truly makes their coverage sound? And, you can also tell just by the mere fact that he has been allowed to drive like an absolute maniac in all three series’, without any consequences.

Oh, no, he's not reckless, he's Rowdy! He's not a menace, he's Wild Thing! Yes! The new Mr. Excitement!

Junior's Fault?

Ok, Earnhardt-haters are always going to be Earnhardt-haters. Fine. They hated Dale, so they hate Junior. I get it. But, to try to say that Junior “moved,” and caused this wreck, is really a reach. Were they watching the same race I saw? Junior had been driving that exact same line, lap after lap, after lap.
But, even that isn’t as much of a reach as comparing Busch-league to Big E.

Yes, Kyle is talented, no doubt. Yes, he has ability, he has car control, and he’s fast.
But, a couple of things he does not have, and never will, are class, and respect both FOR and FROM his fellow drivers.
Making that comparison totally moot.

Letter To Normals

Though I have no kids or grandkids (duh), and really hate sour cream, this awesome "Letter to Normals" certainly helps explain the life of a Fibromite. Fibromite -- isn't that a strange moniker? Sounds like something that could be burrowing into the bottom of your dirty laundry pile right now.
I haven't had the energy to write in a while. In fact, I almost created a whole new site, trying to figure out how to log back in.

I hope you'll take the time to read this letter, and as always, lots of great information is available at:
http://www.fibrohugs.org/

The Letter To Normals

Hello Family, Friends, and Anyone Wishing to Know Me,

Allow me to begin by thanking you for taking the time out of your day to spend some time with me and get to know me better. A person’s time is their most valuable asset and yours is appreciated.

I want to talk to you about Fibromyalgia (FM) and Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS). Many have never heard of these conditions and for those who have, many are misinformed. And because of this judgments are made that may not be correct… So I ask you to keep an open mind as I try to explain who I am and how FM/MPS has assaulted not only my life but those whom I love as well.

You see, I suffer from a disease that you cannot see; a disease that there is no cure for and that keeps the medical community baffled at how to treat and battle this demon, who’s attacks are relentless. My pain works silently, stealing my joy and replacing it with tears. On the outside we look alike you and I; you wont see my scars as you would a person who, say, had suffered a car accident. You wont see my pain in the way you would a person undergoing chemo for cancer; however, my pain is just as real and just as debilitating. And in many ways my pain may be more destructive because people can’t see it and do not understand....

Please don’t get angry at my seemingly lack of interest in doing things; I punish myself enough I assure you. My tears are shed many times when no one is around. My embarrassment is covered by a joke or laughter, but inside I want to die....

Most of my "friends" are gone; even members of my own family have abandoned me. I have been accused of "playing games" for another’s sympathy. I have been called unreliable because I am forced to cancel plans I made at the last minute because the burning and pain in my legs or arms is so intense I cannot put my clothes on and I am left in my tears as I miss out on yet another activity I used to love and once participated in with enthusiasm.

I feel like a child at times... Just the other day I put the sour cream I bought at the store in the pantry, on the shelf, instead of in the refrigerator; by the time I noticed it, it had spoiled. When I talk to people, many times I lose my train of thought in mid sentence or forget the simplest word needed to explain or describe something. Please try to understand how it feels to have another go behind me in my home to make sure the stove is off after I cook an occasional meal. Please try to understand how it feels to “lose” the laundry, only to find it in the stove instead of the dryer. As I try to maintain my dignity the Demon assaults me at every turn. Please try to understand….

Sleep, when I do get some, is restless and I wake often because of the pain the sheets have on my legs or because I twitch uncontrollably. I walk through many of my days in a daze with the Fibro-fog laughing at me as I stumble and grasp for clarity.

And just because I can do a thing one day, that doesn’t mean I will be able to do the same thing the next day or next week. I may be able to take that walk after dinner on a warm July evening; the next day or even the in the next hour I may not be able to walk to the fridge to get a cold drink because my muscles have begun to cramp and lock up or spasm uncontrollably. And there are those who say “but you did that yesterday!” “What is your problem today?” The hurt I experience at those words scars me so deeply that I have let my family down again; and still they don’t understand….

On a brighter side I want you to know that I still have my sense of humor. If you take the time to spend with me you will see that. I love to tell that joke to make another’s face light up and smile at my wit. I love my kids and grandbabies and shine when they give me my hugs or ask me to fix their favorite toy. I am fun to be with if you will spend the time with me on my own playing field; is this too much to ask? I love you and want nothing more than to be a part of your life. And I have found that I can be a strong friend in many ways. Do you have a dream? I am your friend, your supporter and many times I will be the one to do the research for your latest project; many times I will be your biggest fan and the world will know how proud I am at your accomplishments and how honored I am to have you in my life.

So you see, you and I are not that much different. I too have hopes, dreams, goals… and this demon…. Do you have an unseen demon that assaults you and no one else can see? Have you had to fight a fight that crushes you and brings you to your knees? I will be by your side, win or lose, I promise you that; I will be there in ways that I can. I will give all I can as I can, I promise you that. But I have to do this thing my way. Please understand that I am in such a fight myself and I know that I have little hope of a cure or effective treatments, at least right now. Please understand….

Thank you for spending your time with me today. I hope we can work through this thing, you and I. Please understand that I am just like you… Please understand….

WARNING: NASCAR fan -- have you been immunized?

You've probably heard about this:
The Democratic head of Homeland Security actually told aides they needed to be immunized before checking out the care centers at the race tracks at Talladega and Charlotte.

Yes, we NASCAR fans are a very dangerous lot.
Don't get too close or the next thing you know, you'll be swilling Budweiser, shopping at the Home Depot, sending packages via Fed-Ex, wearing Mossy Oak camo, filling your face with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers Bars, and filling your Chevy with Sunoco Fuel and Pennzoil. Oooh.

This very same government is thinking about requiring background checks, and proper identification for some port workers.
Let me repeat: The US government is thinking about requiring background checks, and proper identification for some port workers.
Only six years after 9/11. Gee, what's the hurry?

Clifford Harris, better known as Grammy award-winning rapper T.I., was arrested in Atlanta Saturday. He was charged with possessing unregistered machine guns and silencers.

The rapper, who as a representative for Chevrolet appeared in a television commercial recently with Dale Earnhardt Junior, was taken into custody just hours before he was set to perform at the BET Hip Hop Awards in downtown Atlanta.

A federal search warrant was executed at Harris' home Saturday afternoon and special agents with the ATF spent most of the afternoon at the residence, located about 15 miles southwest of the city.

By 7:30 p.m. Saturday, federal agents had already spent more than four hours at Harris' home collecting boxes and bags of evidence. Investigators said they found six firearms in Harris' bedroom closet.

The U.S. Attorney said Harris should not possess any firearms because he was convicted on felony drug charges in 1998.

Chevy, you may want to check out the folks you have representing you to the world.

Junior, one has to really dig deep, and look very hard to find any faults with you, or in the way you've conducted your life. In fact, we could all learn a few lessons in how to live life with the character, maturity, and dignity you've demonstrated.

All I can say is this, you are THE guy for so many--please choose your friends and associates wisely.

We all try to re-use and recycle, wherever, and whenever we can. Why? Well, it's cheaper, it's better for the environment, our landfills are overflowing, and we're having a tough time coming up with places to dispose of our garbage.

We're also trying to develop as many renewable energy sources as we can. Corn, soybeans, sugar cane, etc.
Our landfills are overflowing, and we're having a tough time coming up with places to dispose of our garbage.
Ummm...can you connect the dots?

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, speaking on the water shortage in the southwest US, claims we need some sort of a "national water policy," so that arid states are able to access water from the Great Lakes.
My opinion on this is: Don't chose to live in a desert.
I hear it's pretty dry there.

But, Mr. Guv, I do have a couple other suggestions...
1. Move to the Midwest. C'mon, bring the family. You're all more than welcome.
Or, better yet, leave our water alone, and:
2. Think desalinization.
They call it the West "Coast" because it is surrounded by lots and lots of water. DUH.
